6. Sir Winston Churchill had a variety of pets. Two of them were poodles with the same name. What name?

7. What is the normal gestation period for a dog?
9 Weeks
Not much to say here other than many years ago I heard a lady say wistfully; “I wish I was only pregnant for 9 weeks”!! Being a mere male I don’t feel I am qualified to comment.
8. Alsatian is another name for what breed of dog?
German Shepherd Dog
The German Shepherd Dog and The Alsatian are one and the same. There are two explanations for this. First, the term Alsatian refers to the Alsace-Lorraine region bordering France and Germany. The second and definitely true is that in Britain, there was a reluctance to use the word German after WW1.
9. Are dogs omnivores, carnivores or herbivores?
Omnivores
For the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know. A carnivore is a meat eater, herbivores eat plant-based products, and an omnivore eats both.
The wolf is the ancestor of the domesticated dog and is generally considered to have been a carnivore. The domesticated dog, however, is generally considered to be an omnivore. The reason is that, like humans, dogs happily consume both meat and plant-based products. There are those, including veterinary surgeons, who maintain that dogs are carnivores, but they are in the minority.
It should be noted that many dog foods contain rice, pasta and cereals.

12. How many eyelids does a dog have?
Three

Ironically Peter Falk, who plays Columbo, was initially resistant as he considered that the show had enough gimmicks. His resistance completely crumbled when he was introduced to the slovenly hound. There is a statue of Colombo and Dog on Falk Miksa street in Budapest, Hungary. Some claim that Peter Falk is a distant relation to Miksa Falk a well-known Hungarian politician, journalist and author. The evidence is dubious in the extreme.
